Taking place 20 years after the main story we once again get to play as Evie as she returns to London looking for her brother after his disappearance, but getting to play a few short missions as the Ripper himself as well.

Jack the Ripper DLCs however, gives us an Assassin's Creed's take on the famous serial killer that terrorized Victorian London, by offering a connection between the Assassins and the Ripper. Syndicate DLCs offer more in term of extra missions, weapons and outfits, one of which brings back murder mysteries from Unity while playfully introducing the creator of one of the most famous detectives in The Dreadful Crimes DLC. Similar to Unity's helix glitches that take place in different time periods, one of Syndicate's optional memories takes place during World World I, taking place years after the events of the main game, the short story following Jacob's granddaughter Lydia helping Winston Churchill with the enemy threat on home soil. The hideout this time around is a moving train that circles the entire playable London area that can be easily boarded and disembarked at any moment, climbed on top for a more adventurous travelling experience and even sight see from within the train with an option to change camera angles and view London from unique perspectives. The cost of weapons and outfits is in the realm of affordability, yet another welcome change from Unity, and making money to purchase them comes in the form of pubs' income that needs to be unlocked under gang upgrades, which is then easily picked up from the train's vault, as well as various side missions generously providing another income. There are plenty of styles to acquire, some requiring crafting, each offering different stats, most notably belts for Jacob and capes for Evie offering defense and stealth points, and their various outfits stat boosts. There are 3 different weapon types to use, kukri, cane-swords & knuckles, offering 3 different styles of combat to pick from, as well as firearms and Assassin gauntlets. The looting of bodies also gets a boost, having been severely nerfed in Unity, giving more consumables and reducing the need to shop after or during missions. Another new gadget is the introduction of the voltaic bomb which, similar to the smoke bomb, incapacitates enemies but also damages them as well.Ī welcome return to the franchise are the whistle and for PC players a mouse wheel as a method for cycling through weapons, both having been removed in Unity, with takedown opportunities continuing in Syndicate. Traversing London's 4 to 5-story buildings is made easier by the new gadget, the rope launcher, making reaching the tops of buildings a breeze, as well as quickly "hopping" from one rooftop to the next. Evie is charming, eager to help, while Jacob just as charming is more playful in his approach, not taking himself or the problems around him too seriously, but fully aware they are.

The twins give a fresh approach to the otherwise single main charater, each with their own views of the world and how to approach and solve certain problems. Gang members act in the similar way as Assassin recruits did in some previous games, helping protagonists in a more direct way rather than from the shadows. Having a unique opportunity to play as two different people, switching from one to another in a matter of a second, the game gives us two different perspectives from the same side, one that abides by the Creed and follows in her father's footsteps focusing on the Piece of Eden, and the other swaying away from his sister's goal to take matters into his brawling hands by forming a gang to take down Templar lieutenants, crippling their control. Taking place closest in history to us, the game takes place in Victorian England following the Frye twins and their goal of taking back control of London from Templar hands, following the assassination of Edward Kenway years earlier.
